T2 DIABETES

Diabetes is a condition that occurs when the body cannot maintain healthy levels of sugar (glucose) in the blood. T2 Diabetes develops when the body does not make enough insulin or does not use it well. This condition is progressive and therefore requires modification to your lifestyle, such as diet and exercise. Research shows us that physical activity reduces the risk of developing T2 diabetes initially as well as improves your diabetes status, assists in maintaining a healthy weight, lowering your blood pressure, reducing stress and your risk of heart disease.

At Fusion Physiotherapy we understand it is difficult to know where or how to get started in modifying your lifestyle. We offer services run by our Diabetes Educator, Deb Ludeman, who has over 20 years experience in the fields of diabetes and heart disease. Within these sessions you will be given expert advice about diabetes, how best to manage your condition and together you will develop a care plan that is best suited to your condition. Deb is able to liaise with our Exercise Physiologists who will assist you with your lifestyle changes and get you started with our Diabetes exercise groups. These classes have a great social aspect while catering for all levels of fitness and function in order to reach your goals.
