This week while you are training I want you to think back to when you first started your program. Notice how your fitness has improved and your ability to run is better than before. Sure, you probably still feel fatigued and sore after a long run but your ability to tolerate the discomfort of physical exertion has improved. This is your body getting fitter!! Most people think that when you improve your aerobic fitness, exercise will no longer be uncomfortable. Sorry, this won’t happen. What will happen is that you can put up with it for longer and when you stop you will recover more quickly. So, enjoy the feelings of breathlessness and heavy legs knowing you are able to keep going, you don’t have to stop and when you do finish your run you will be feeling fabulous again in no time. Jane.
