Clinical Pilates has developed as a therapeutic application of traditional Pilates; a system of exercises designed to improve physical strength, flexibility and posture. In Clinical Pilates there is a particular focus on the complex series of muscles in your middle – commonly referred to as the ‘core’ – which extend far beyond just your abs. Functional movements are highly dependent on the core muscles, and a lack development in this area can predispose you to injury.
Clinical Pilates is delivered by specifically trained physiotherapists who aim to teach you how to correctly recruit specific muscle groups, using safe techniques. Clinical Pilates programs are adapted to suit each person and their condition, meaning programs are very specific and achieve quicker results. During Pilates, exercises are applied to specifically rehabilitate your injury, which again contributes to the efficiency of this technique and delivers timely results.
